I owned the book before and misplaced it. I was happy to be able to order it through Amazon. It is very interesting. I read plays because they take me, mentally, into theatres anytime I want to go there. This book gives me some insight into the happenings in South Africa during the apartheid era. I am learning things that the newscasters could not know about South Africa; the feelings of the people, the personal and other forms of struggle that did not take place on the street, how the South Africans treated each other; their fears, worries, interests and concerns. Very interesting read.

Amazing and get this for $20 from U of M

This book is excellent and my main reason for posting is to urge you NOT to buy from these vendors! This book is $20 from the University of Michigan website, not $140. Go here: [...] and buy directly from the research institute Dr. Edington runs for $19.95. This book provides evidence based information to take to your board, your senior executives, and your HR. It easily makes the business case for wellness and I guarantee you will enjoy it. I don't work for U of M, I just went to purchase another copy and thought I would just include a copy in my already Amazon existing order until I came across this price! Great book, HIGHLY recommended.

A Must Read For Those Serious About Controlling Cost

Dr. Edington's work, "Zero Trends", is an excellent resource for anyone interested in managing the health & productivity risk of their workforce and reducing their healthcare spend. We have 3,000 employees in our companies and have used the principals outlined in Dr. Edington's book to achieve tremendous results. In 2010, our costs are projected to be $3.8 Million below the national average and in 2011, when we achieve Zero Trend, our costs will be $6.0 Million below the national average. Our gains are compounded by the fact that for every $1 that we save on direct medical costs, we save another $3 in indirect costs such as productivity measures, workers comp and disability. That's a total impact of $24 Million to the bottom line in 2011. That's great news for us and bad news for our competitors

challenging problems

This book is full of challenging problems, even for parents! For example, when I read the practice of looking for a pattern, I need to think hard. But some times I still can not find the answers, so the answer key really comes as a great help. It includes step-by-step solutions and they are quite understandable. My daughter is confident with the problems, and she really did well in all the practice. This book helps to strengthen her mathematical thinking and build multiple problem-solving methods. She loves the tricks and voluntarily makes up her own problems to solve. She's already seeing how the techniques help her in her normal math work. She is now probably the top math student in her class. In the Beestar online math tests (a nice web site beestar.org), she is ranked high in the honor roll. I’m very pleased with this book.

Improve problem solving skills

The book focuses on problem solving. So, problems in this book are more challenging. And yet I believe the skills needed to solve the problems are essential for your kids to be successful in math. Also, there are lots of problems in this book compared with other Singapore math books. I highly recommend this book to kids who would like to learn problem solving skills.
