Ryland’s arm was lifted high.
The crowd cheered, and I whistled and clapped along with them. Then I froze as Ryland’s grays ensnared mine. Something powerful gleamed in them. Something predatory, and I was unable to tear away.
A thought crossed my mind. Should I run because of the way he was looking at me? I’d never had anyone look at me like that before. Not any of the menacing women in the prison who were picking their teeth with bones nor my ex when we were in the peak of our relationship. Ryland’s look was scary but another kind of scary. A pure sexual scary, and I kind of liked it.
My insides quivered, and my body ached for him. Sexual tension was a cunning enemy, always present, and I had ignored it since I’d met Ryland. But at the moment, I felt that I was going to blow if he came near me.
He moved, his body a ripple of power as he stalked toward me, ignoring the crowd seeking his attention. A reporter with a death wish stepped in front of him, cutting off his path.
Ryland halted to shoot the man a glare. The reporter changed his mind fast and scurried out of Ryland’s way. Coach threw his hands in the air, shouting at Ryland to stay, but was ignored. Ben must have had iron balls to put a hand on Ryland’s shoulder, but Ryland shot his grays to him, and Ben lifted his hands and backed off slowly.
My jaw had already dropped but fell even more when Ryland vaulted himself up the cage’s chain link, over the edge, and leaped to the ground, his knees bent to soften the impact. The spell broke when people swarmed him like flies, and I lost sight of him.
Tyeesha gave my hand a quick squeeze, mumbling, “Oh Lord, someone has it baaad.”
Who had it bad? Me or him? Because I freaking had it bad. I needed to get the hell out of here before he caught me. As I decided to run far away, maybe Hawaii or someplace farther, I watched the unfortunate person in front of me get tossed aside, and Ryland’s T-shirt-clad body materialized two inches from my face. I cranked my head back and froze.
The lights flashed behind him, and I blinked quickly. The crowd moved and buzzed around me, but they were merely background noise. His white teeth flashed in a predatory way, his grays were molten, and the way he was staring at me had my body flaring from a single flame to a freaking inferno. Run? What was the definition of that word? Before I knew it, he bent and I landed on his shoulder, my breath escaping me.
We were moving before I realized what was going on. I didn’t struggle, but I did attempt to brace myself on his back so I didn’t just hang there. He carried me out of the arena like he was a victorious warrior claiming the glory, claiming his prize. And I was his prize.

"Sinful. Fun. Drool-worthy. Alpha male. Hot!! Soulful. Heartbreaking. Intense. Action packed. Addictive. I loved that I was so easily able to get lost in the story, and that's a hard thing to do since I've read a countless number of MMA or fighter books which may have a similar backbone that can often make it less than exciting or a breath of fresh air. With WANT though, you get everything that you are looking for in an all consuming and adoringly sinful story. I cannot bloody wait for the next book by Emma Rider and if it's anything as soulful, drool worthy and heartbreaking as WANT? I think my sanity doesn't really have a chance in surviving.. "What a fantastic book! Ryland & Jade were great characters!! Their chemistry & passion for each other was off the charts. I could feel their intensity for each other coming off in waves!! Ryland is a tough, broody & protective fighter. He wasn't a hearts and flowers kind of guy but he was a sweet talker!! Jade was sweet & a professional snuggler!! She tried to guard her heart from Ryland but there is no resisting him and she found that out. I absolutely loved their banter and together they made such a great team. This book had just he right amount of drama, passion & suspense."

Awesome cover!

I love a good MMA fighter story. The awesome cover was what attracted me to the story at first. Thankfully, the story lived up to the cover. It stays off with Jade. She has made some poor decisions in the past resulting in a loser ex and some undeserved prison time. As a result, her job prospects are non-existent, and her legal and other bills are pulling up. She borrows some money from a friend and uses her education in psychology tho open her own business...a cuddling service. No, you didn't hear me wrong. I did say a cuddling service, affection for those who lack it in their daily lives. No sex allowed. Yes, I agree, it's a strange notion, but just go with it.
Ryland is a famous MMA fighter and a client of Jade's. He wants her ask to himself and offers her an exclusive contract. Jade resists at first, but quickly changes her mind after a run in with a dangerous motorcycle club leaves her in need of money and a place to hide. Ryland senses something is wrong but let's her keep her secrets...for a while. The more time the two spend together, the more Jade risks breaking her rules and falling for Ryland. She also fears how he will react when he knows all her secrets. She would give everything to protect him from the fallout of her life, and end the end, she may very well have to.
I love, love, love this story. Ryland was super sexy with his alpha tendencies, gentle touches, and MMA bedroom moves. Jade was everything Ryland needed. She was a cuddler and a talker, and Ryland was a man of action with little time to even speak compete sentences. They amused me and made me smile. The suspenseful subplots also kept things moving quickly and the excitement building. It was a great read.

First, before I even get into what I thought about this book... Professional cuddler?!?!?! Ummm.... I have to be honest... I googled it. Is this a real thing?? Does it actually have therapeutic benefits?? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?!?!? I kid you not. This through me off for a little bit. And yepp, it is real and yes it is said to have benefits for those suffering PTSD and other disabilities.
Okay, onto the book...
It's starts with a classic story. Girl loves boy. Girl and boy get engaged and start a life together. Girl gets degree. Girl finds out boy is a lying slimeball. Boy sets up girl with drugs in truck of car. Girl gets arrested and spends time in jail. Girl gets out of jail with a mountain of debt and becomes a professional cuddler... You know, happens all the time.
Jade started her business, Snuggle up to Me, to help people (and herself). She is determined to make it on her own and remain free. She screens clients and has contracts with them to protect both her and her clients. She has rules and boundaries with them all. One client that pushes her boundaries and actually makes her FEEL while they cuddle is MMA fighter Ryland "The Savage" Cole.
Ryland is heading into his last year of competitive MMA fighting and wants to go out on a high note. He has worked hard to reach the level of success he has. He is the type to know what he wants and set a plan on how to get it. And he has his sights set on Jade. His "plan" on how to get Jade is a little... unorthodox, but I understood where it was coming from.
By the end of the book, you understand more of the "professional cuddler" aspect of the book. Want was a good romantic read with some pretty steamy scenes. I hope Emma Rider writes Jase and Jules story!!

A great read!

I'm so glad I got to read this amazing story. At first I wasn't sure, if this one was for me but that quickly changed once I started reading it.
The story starts of with Jade and how she re-invents her life after the disastrous mess her ex fiancé left her in, by starting her own company that provides professional cuddling service. One of her clients happens to be Ryland “Savage” Cole, who is also a MMA fighter and soon the opportunity arises for Jade to go with him on his last tour and be at his disposal 24/7 as his cuddling buddy. After some troublesome events that force her to accept his proposal, their love story takes its course.
I got confused a few times because of the writing style, it wasn't as fluid as I'd liked it to be. The present/past intersections of h's story were at times too sharp and sometimes I wished for a more detailed scene, so I'd have a clearer picture of what was going on, especially the action scenes.
That being said, I loved H's character and his determination to get his woman. He never wavers in his pursuit and after they (finally) get together I really liked his way of showing her what she meant to him. The h was at first not my favourite character. She was too stubborn and kept pushing H away for over half the story by finding excuses as to why they shouldn't be together. She won me over after SPOILER being kidnapped. END SPOILER I felt like we got to see a whole new side of her.
There's romance, action, angst, loyalty and of course we also get our HEA. All in all a great read. :)
SPOILER ALERT
Safety-gang: It's a safe read. There is some OW/OM drama but nothing too serious. In the club scene, after H won his fight, h sees H just as one OW makes a move on him but he makes it obvious that he doesn't want her. In another scene, we find out H has a stalkerish ex (H had a one night stand with her in the past, who he deeply regrets) who then ends up in a cat fight with h. Then there's some drama from h's ex fiancé, and since he owes some bad people h get dragged into his mess.
