Awesome Pocket Book Guide - Great for those in Dietetics

I'm currently a Dietetic Intern. This book has been, and still is, a useful pocket book guide that I use everyday for my internship. The book has almost all the medications that I currently deal with in my clinical rotation. The type of information that this book gives are as follows:

1. Alternative Name(s)
2. The drug's affect
3. Diet (with our without food), what foods to avoid with the med (ie. grapefruit)
4. Oral/GI affects
5. S/Conds
6. Affects on Pregnancy
7. Blood/Serum affects
8. Urinary affects
9. What to monitor
10. Ways to be adminstered (the drug)
11. and more

Additionally, the book provides (what I find to be very useful) are Lab Values, their normal ranges, and reasons why they might be elevated or below normal limits.

There is more within this pocket guide.

The only thing I don't like is that it says "Pocket Guide"; it's not really that small, it's quite big. Don't expect it to fit in your pant pocket. It will fit in your lab coat pocket, but it's quite still big. I suggest to carry it with your binder. Just don't misplace it; I've done it many times already on the different hospital floors.

I highly recommend this food and drug medication guide -- especially those in the dietetics profession.

Very helpful for anyone taking prescription meds

I purchased this book because it's a standard reference book for us dietitians. Even so, my family and friends also use this book to research their current prescription medications. The information is easy to follow, even if you're not a healthcare professional. The back of the book contains additional handy reference pages, such as the normal ranges for many blood tests and common causes for out-of-range test results; dietary sources of vitamins, minerals, oxalates, and phytic acid (especially important for people with certain chronic illnesses to know); and a list of meds that are affected by grapefruit. I feel this book can be very helpful for people who need to cope with chronic illness(es) that require dietary adjustments and/or multiple prescription medications.

Extremely Helpful Guide

This is more of a guide book that fits quite nicely in your lab coat pocket. As nutrient and medications are explained, there are many more advantages such as references to specific lab values and thier normal limits, nutrient and micronutrient food sources, height-weight tables, ideal body weight calculations and more. A must for any health professional not directly working with medications.

Get it! Get it! Get it! There can't be a better book.

I've read this book alteast 15 times during the seven years that I've had it, and I still love to read it. If I could meet its author, it would be like a dream come true. This book has made me into a better magician than I could ever imagine. I even love the smell of its pages. One thing though, don't get it if you are looking for apparatus magic. Essentially teaches sleight of hand, but boy does it teach. Its the best book, it has to be.

If you are interested at all in magic then this is the book to get. It lets you in on the secrets of a whole realm of different magic tricks (coins, cards, stage, close, etc....). Whats great about this book is that if you are new to the "hobby" then you can sample a little of alot and find what really interests you, then you can delve into another more specific book with deeper content.

Now where to begin...

I was a little worried reading the comments, after I had placed my order, that I would be disappointed. As others have noted, it was not quite what they expected. When I opened my package, I was pleased that everything looked great, with no damage at all! The books were tightly packed within the set (as most good book sets come to prevent the books from moving around and ruining the edges). The quality of the design doesn't seem to be lacking to me-as it was what I was expecting from a small paperback. I was not searching for fancy books to line my bookshelfs, but rather fantastic stories to inspire my dreams. I feel like I got a great bunch of small books for less than a dollar a piece! I usually buy old classics that are falling apart at thrift stores and used book stores for more than that. It is an awesome introduction to authors that I have yet to read and a great addition to some of my favorites! Now where to begin...

Felt compelled to comment about the set which I have been anticipating for months and was delivered today. I love it! Unlike previous reviewers who talk about the physical appearance I have more imagination than they do than to dismiss this wonderful project of Penguin's on such odiously superficial grounds. I also purchased a gorgeous Penguin tote that I will use to carry my books piecemeal as I make my way through this wonderful collection.

Amazing Series!

This series is comical as well as action packed, and with romance for the shojo lovers! With references to other popular shows, as well as original comedic moments this series has won a place in my heart! The art style is amazing, capturing the creepy-ish feel of being in the demon world without to much 'Tim Burton' rip off symbolism. All the characters are charming and have unique personalities. If your looking for something new, fun and addicting look no further than Blood Lad!

I am thoroughly enjoying this series. I love Staz's crazy, apathetic character and his ulterior motives, LOL. I only wish Fuyumi wasn't quite so clueless.... the phrase big-breasted airhead comes to mind but she isn't quite that bad. In a way, she's a good foil for Staz; and part of me wonders, after seeing her room and home life, if there isn't more to her than meets the eye. I like pretty much all of the characters that have been introduced so far. The pacing seems a bit fast, but I'm hoping this series will last a long time. It doesn't have to be "Bleach" length, but I'm hoping to get immersed in the Demon World of this series, or have a part of the series take place in the human word once Fuyumi gets her body back and Staz finally gets the chance to takea sip.... oh, the anticipation; it's what good mangas are made of!

P.S. - the anime isn't bad either, it's one of the few that follows pretty closely to the source manga.

Fine for the price, but kind of superficial

This PUA book is getting a lot of hype, so I thought I'd review it to give an honest perspective. As someone who has read a lot of these books, I have to say this one is not bad - for the price. I mean, for $3 as long as it's decent that's okay. It's similar to the also recently released How To Talk To Women: Unlock The Secrets To Effective Attraction, Flirting And Girlfriend Getting in that the book is over a hundred pages long, but could easily be made much shorter. This book is probably a little better than that one, though.

The best thing about the book is Marni, the author, seems like a pretty nice person. It helps she's a woman, and she clearly cares for her male clients who are struggling to meet girls. Her advice about having confidence, and other similar common sense values an attractive man should have, will help out a lot of socially awkward guys.

But this book has a fair bit of bull in it, and too much of it is just email exchanges between Marni and her clients. It reads kind of like a long magazine article at points. I don't mean that as a compliment.

What it comes down to is that if you really want to get better at meeting girls, invest a little bit of money into it. $3 is nothing - you should be willing to spend much more than that. If you want to be cheap get the equally priced but better She Wants You: The Truth Behind Attraction. After that buy David Deida's The Way of the Superior Man. That's $15 total and 100 times the information as is in this book. From there you will naturally start finding other interesting stuff about women and sexuality. That's my recommendation, if you want to get real about the subject of relationships.

Surprised By The Results

Aside from some grammatical errors and a bit of redundancy, this was a really good book. I'm in my late 40's, have been married over half of it and am recently back in the dating scene with no dating skills. Marni's viewpoints have helped me understand the rules of the game, what women want, what they respond to, and how to ask that beautiful woman out. Ironically, I lacked the self confidence that is required to win at dating. I've been applying Marni's suggestions, and wow! The results made me laugh out loud! Seriously? It's that easy? The concepts are easy, the practice takes effort to force yourself to do what seems counter-intuitive.

A MUST read!

Although I'm new to this genre, I've read a few books on picking up women, including "The Game" and "The Mystery Method", this is by far the best book on attracting women. I was extremely skeptical about it so I borrowed it from my Kindle Prime library but I ended having to highlight something on almost every page, so I'm going to purchase it. It has tons of information about the women's perspective in the dating world as well as lots advice for men as to what to do and who to be. The best advice she gives is that all that really matters is that you work. Nothing replaces that. Doesn't matter how many books you read. You need to practice approaching women and work on yourself, develop your dating skills and your confidence and character. It's all what it comes down to. This book was such a pleasure (and pain, when recalling my mistakes with women) to read because, unlike most other self-help books, this one is tightly packed with so much valuable information. Yes, the author invites you to sign up for her newsletter and offers you paid membership to ask her advice, but that's business, and that's how she decided to make her living. I have only two words to tell to Marni Kinrys: thank you, and respect!
