Excellent resource for remedial reading for HS students

This series by Henry and another by L. Fleming (Reading for Thinking) are the texts used by many community colleges to teach remedial reading. According the college boards (SAT) and the ACT about 40% of senior HS students with Bs in English will not meet the benchmarks for college readiness and be required to take a remedial reading course. These series are excellent and i think both have 3 levels (middle school, mid HS and beginning college).
Personally I am using this book with a tutor for my HS senior. She is dsylexic and barely met the benchmarks for college readiness on SAT. Her grades are good, but I don't think she is ready for the rigor of academic reading in college. We are using this book to supplement the gap. (Like any HS senior, she's not thrilled but knows it necessary).

The Master Reader

I gave this book five stars because it is a very helpful book for anyone who has forgotton what a general purpose is and a specific purpose was. I use this book in reading 101,and it has alot of infornmation I had forgotton about when I was back in high school. I recommend this book for students who plan on taking reading 101 in college.

Master Reader without the answers

I got this book to brush up for a state reading exam. After reading the chapter I took the review and looked for the answer sheet to see if I am answering correctly. They don't include any answer sheeting the book. I called the company and they said they don't have the answer guides available. Frustrating waste of money for me.
